Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Schools and Early Learning is a major program developed by Reconciliation Australia and launched in 2015. The program is designed to support early learning services, primary and secondary schools in Australia to develop environments that foster a higher level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions. Participating schools and early learning services will be assisted to find meaningful ways to increase respect; reduce prejudice; and strengthen relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The program is designed to be delivered at the whole-school and early learning service level, with benefits for all students and teachers, as well as for the wider community.
Reconciliation Australia aims to engage teachers through the Australian Curriculum (cross-curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures) and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Focus area 1.4 and 2.4). The Narragunnawali framework of developing Relationships, showing Respect and seeking mutual Opportunities is applied in schools through the curriculum, the school's culture and ethos, and the school's links with local community. The framework has four key outputs:

- National School Awards

Description and Methodology:
The Australian National University (ANU) is in the process of conducting an evaluation of Narragunnawali. The evaluation commenced in early 2015 and will continue to 2017. The evaluation will involve the use of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including surveys, interviews at both individual and school level, and administrative data analysis.
The objectives of the evaluation are:
- Monitoring - To enable evidence-based modifications, enhancements or changes to be made to the program within and beyond the project plan; and
- Evaluation - To report successes and challenges to the program to stakeholders and funding sources.
